Restaurant Conversations 1

Conversation practice for restaurant workers — common customer questions and how to answer them.

Vocabulary in context

Restaurant customers ask a lot of questions, and they ask them fast, often mid-conversation, often when you're on your way somewhere else. Is this dish spicy? Can you do it without the cheese? How long is the wait? Could we move tables? The words you use in response to each of these shape the guest's experience more than the food does — because what they remember is how they felt, and how they felt depends largely on how they were spoken to. This exercise practises the Q&A format of real restaurant service: a question arrives, and you need the right English immediately — not a polished speech, just a clear, warm, professional reply that takes a second and lands perfectly.
