Care Conversations 8 — End of Life Care BE

The most important conversations in care — speaking with residents and families at the end of life with compassion, clarity, and dignity.

Language at end of life

End of life care conversations are the most profound in care work. They require a very specific kind of language — honest but gentle, clear but never clinical, present and unhurried. This exercise does not cover medical decision-making (that is the nurse's role) but focuses on the direct care worker's role: being present, communicating compassionately, and supporting both the resident and their family.
