Casino Resort Vocabulary 1

English vocabulary for casino and resort employees — general terms for guest services and gaming floors.

Vocabulary in context

Casino resorts are a world unto themselves — a place where the hospitality industry meets the gaming industry, and where the vocabulary does the same. Guests might be there for a conference, a spa weekend, or a week at the tables, and staff need to be fluent in the language of all three. Knowing the difference between a comp and a complimentary upgrade, or understanding what a guest means by high roller, marker, or house edge, isn't just impressive — it's necessary for doing the job well. Casino resorts also attract guests who've visited many properties and know exactly what they want. Being able to speak their language, in both the hospitality and gaming sense, is what makes you someone they'll ask for by name next time.
